Magritte disait : "je n'ai pas eu d'idée, je n'ai pensé qu'à une image". Et c'est ainsi que commence mon travail, par une image. Plus tard, au fur et à mesure que la besogne s'accomplit, une histoire surgit du tableau.

Celle que j'y lis n'est pas forcément celle que le spectateur choisira - s'il choisit - de se raconter. Et c'est un peu cela la magie de l'art qui offre à chacun la possibilité de plonger dans un univers dont lui même, par l'intermédiaire de l'artiste, dessinera les contours.

Magritte said : "I didn't have an idea, I was just thinking about an image". And that's how my work begins, with an image. Only when labour is in progress that a story emerges from the painting. The one I read is not always the one the spectator choses to tell, if he does so... And maybe that's the magic in art, the possibility for one to enter a universe the contours of which he, or she, through the artist, is at liberty to draw.
