In French, when trying to complicate one's life with existentialstic dilemmas, the thing to say is :
- où suis-je, qui suis-je, d'où viens-je, que fais-je ?
which translates into :
- where am I, who am I, where do I come from, what do I do ?
And then, some wise guy usually adds :
- dans quel état j'erre ?
Which translates into :
- in what state am I wandering ?
But when said out loud, could be mistaken for :
- on what shelf ?
Well, where are you ?
Make no mistake.
